Raw Mango debuts at London Fashion Week

Raw Mango Reimagines South Asian Plurality with “It’s Not About The Flower”

On the final day of London Fashion Week, Raw Mango, the powerhouse Indian label led by textile designer Sanjay Garg, made its highly anticipated international debut today, February 23, 2026.

The Fall/Winter 2026 collection, titled It’s Not About The Flower, was presented by the De Beers Group and featured Forevermark Diamond Jewellery, marking a sophisticated convergence of heritage textiles and natural diamonds.

The Philosophy: From Single Stems to Plurality

While the global fashion eye often views Indian design through a lens of maximalist "bling," Garg used the London stage to dismantle that stereotype. The collection draws inspiration from the garland—a ubiquitous symbol in South Asia that marks every major life event, from birth and weddings to religious rituals and death.

“As a culture, we are a country of garlands,” said Sanjay Garg. “It’s not about one individual flower; it’s about the plurality. I’m less interested in defining my audience and more interested in further exploring a design language that transcends borders.”

Garg challenged the industry’s tendency to "quantify" Indian fashion by the hours of labor involved, urging the audience to instead appreciate the innate aesthetic value of the weave and the arrangement.

The Craft: Sculpting the Body

The silhouettes were a masterclass in structural drape, mimicking how a garland sits on and interacts with the human form. Moving away from heavy surface ornamentation, the collection featured:

Textile Innovation: "Flowers" were hand-rolled or constructed from silk-like fabrics, then placed in delicate arrangements.

Material Contrast: The designs utilized a rich variety of textures, including lightly embroidered brocades, rib-knit cottons, quilted rayon, and wool felt.

A Modern Palette: In a departure from typical saturated "Indian" colors, the collection leaned into a sophisticated monochrome base of blacks and whites, punctuated by "visual sorbets" of green, lemon yellow, and pink.

A Meeting of Heritage and Individuality

The collaboration with Forevermark Diamond Jewellery underscored the show’s theme of authenticity. Shweta Harit, Global Senior VP at De Beers Group and CEO of Forevermark, noted that the partnership was a natural fit, as both brands value the "uniquely individual" nature of their materials—whether a billion-year-old diamond or a hand-loomed textile.
