THE HOT WAR: RUKMINI VASANTH vs MRUNAL THAKUR

Social media is abuzz with a comparison between two young actresses Rukmini Vasanth and Mrunal Thakur.

Rukmini and Mrunal

Both Rukmini Vasanth and Mrunal Thakur have carved out a unique space in Indian cinema as "performers first," often being praised for their expressive eyes and ability to ground high-stakes romantic dramas. While Mrunal is a more established pan-India star, Rukmini is currently the "it-girl" of South Indian cinema, rapidly following a similar career trajectory. After the big-budget Kantara: Chapter 1 her latest is Toxic.

Mrunal is already an Established Pan-India star with major hits in both Bollywood and Tollywood, like Sita Ramam, Love Sonia and Hi Nanna.

The comparison sparked largely because of casting overlaps. Both actresses were reportedly considered for several high-profile projects, including Suriya’s 45th film and Sivakarthikeyan’s SK23. Director A.R. Murugadoss notably chose Rukmini over Mrunal for SK23 because he wanted a "practical, grounded look" that Rukmini embodies.

According to the GoatIt.co reporter,

* Mrunal Thakur is the queen of the emotional epic; if a movie needs a timeless, poetic leading lady who can make an audience weep, she is the first choice.

* Rukmini Vasanth is the rising critical darling; her background in RADA gives her a technical edge, and her current trajectory suggests she is poised to become the next major crossover star from the Kannada industry.
